Hypnotherapy to Stop Smoking
If you are truly committed to
giving up you will find the session will shatter how you thought about
you and your smoking habit making it easy to stop once and for all.
If you
need to know more read on...
Smoking is all about reward or no one would do it. You have had a
stressful day ...you smoke and feel better....
you have an argument.....you smoke and feel better.....you need a
break from any social situation....you smoke and feel better.
So if you quit smoking you think you're life is going to be
better without it, but then you don't see any real tangible, immediate
benefits. If you stop you haven't got anything to relax you and
reduce your stress! And that is RIGHT NOW! TANGIBLE and VERY
UNINVITING
When
smokers try and stop smoking using their own willpower or patches or
gum, they are simply giving up the ONE thing that reduces their stress
or anxiety...for LITTLE or NO reward for doing so! DOES THAT MAKE
SENSE? sadly NO
Hypnosis is well proven and
very powerful. Combining hypnosis, visualisation, hypnotherapy and
psychology, I believe stopping smoking is EASY........What if you
could stop smoking...and feel REALLY proud of yourself? What if I
could put suggestions in your mind so that you
feel FITTER, CALMER,
MORE RELAXED, MORE POSITIVE? That in all of the situations where you
used to feel tense you now just feel completely AT EASE with yourself?
NOW THAT DOES MAKE SENSE ! It would be easy to stop wouldn't it!
So what happens in a stop smoking session?
To help explain what really does happen in a stop
smoking session here at the St.Neots Hypnotherapy Clinic we asked
Nicky if she would mind reporting what her stop smoking session was
like and to add atmosphere we asked if she would mind us taking a few
pictures of her session to illustrate the stages and give you a real
insight into what goes on .
stage 1 >Contact Us

Nicky contacted us to make her appointment
"I phoned Matthew to make an appointment after
speaking to a couple of friends who had stopped smoking after a
session at the clinic. He was busy so I left a message on his
answer phone and he got back to me later in the day. We arranged a
time and day and he also asked if I would mind reporting on my visit
for the clinic website and was it alright to take a couple of photos?
I didn't have a problem with that so I agreed"
Stage 2>Arriving at the Clinic
Nicky arrived at the clinic after smoking her last
cigarette
"I took a seat in reception at my appointment
time feeling a little nervous but excited about the session!"
Stage 3>The Consulting Room
"Matthew collected me from the waiting room and we made
our way to the consulting room, Matthew seemed relaxed and was
appologising for keeping me a smoker for 10mins longer than I needed to be
by being slightly late for my appointment!"
"I'm not sure what I was expecting
would happen next but Matthew and I chatted and after a few minutes he
said that we really ought to stop me smoking now!
He explained why smoking is thought to be hard to quit,
why I believed it was difficult for me to stop smoking without mood swings
and feeling irritable.
He
even explained what was going on in my head when I wanted a cigarette and
how Hypnosis would give my mind the motivation and incentive to stop
without feeling cheated . Matthew explained what Hypnosis was and what it
wasn't (I don't think he likes Paul McKenna very much!!) and I understood
exactly what was going to happen and why it would happen"
Stage 4>Hypnotherapy

"Actually I feel a bit embarressed to say this but I was
told that I should say exactly what I thought ! I don't think I really
needed the hypnosis after speaking to Matthew I felt myself understanding
why I had smoked and why I didn't need to anymore BUT I wasn't going to
take any chances and anyway I was quite excited about the whole Hypnosis
experience anyway!"

Stage
5>Being a Non-Smoker
"Although a couple of my friends
had stopped with no problem after seeing Matthew I have to admitt I
thought I might be different!
I wanted to stop but was nervous that I would fail or it
wouldn't work for me but once I had spoken to Matthew it all made sense
and I couldn't imagine why I had ever smoked in the first place.
The Hypnosis part was relaxing and I felt in control of
what was happening (which is important to me :-) I'm sure Matthew could
explain that one to me too!) -it was a lovely feeling being able to sit
there and do nothing for what unfortunately only felt like 5-10 mins but I
am reliably informed it was closer to 40mins.
Many thanks from a non-smoker"

St.Neots Hypnotherapy
Clinic provides a new way to stop smoking easily and quickly, if you
were worried about mood swings, bad moods, over eating, picking at food
between meals we can help you to quit smoking without these worries. If
you have tried stopping smoking before using nicotine patches, nicotine
gum, counselling in groups or one on one or just plain will power. If you
have even tried Hypnotherapy before do not worry. Here at the St.Neots
Hypnotherapy Clinic we use explain the psychology of smoking and help you to understand why
stopping smoking can be easy ,quick and painless.
Hypnosis has been used for therapeutic
benefit for thousands of years. It is a totally natural method, which
allows the client to achieve a very pleasant relaxed state, enhancing
awareness. During hypnosis, the subconscious part of your mind is open to
positive suggestion, enabling the client to achieve their desired change
in their
behaviour . As a therapeutic tool the hypnotic state also enables the
therapy to uncover and thus remove the causes of deep rooted emotional
problems such as anxiety, phobias, panic attacks etc..
So Hypnosis is a perfectly natural state of mind. Often referred to as
an altered state of consciousness. During hypnosis, one is calm, relaxed
and peaceful. You are not asleep and there is absolutely no question of
being controlled. You are aware of the whole process albeit in a deep and
pleasant state of relaxation.
Stage
hypnosis and misconceptions
Sadly most people's first or only experience of hypnosis is through
watching television or stage hypnotists at work. This can lead people to
believe that they may be controlled or manipulated or made to do something
against their will or make them feel out of control.
There is NOTHING that could be further from reality.
During a hypnotic induction you remain in control and perfectly awake.
Hypnosis for therapeutic purposes is just about relaxation. You may feel
very heavy, relaxed, lethargic or quite light and tingly. It's just a
wonderful, deeply pleasant and relaxing experience.
Our
clients believed they were addicted to smoking, that their smoking was a
life long habit, that smoking was a part of them. They believed they would
start to put weight on and over eat. Some worried that they could not be
hypnotised or that because they enjoyed smoking and would suffer side
effects from stopping smoking, like bad moods, mood swings, cravings, that
they wouldn't be able to relax and were too stressed without cigarettes.
