Treating
Anxiety with Hypnotherapy and Hypnosis
Analytical therapy uses the minds natural ability
to work out emotional/psychological problems.
By using ‘free association’ while in Hypnosis
your mind is encouraged to let it’s natural process of linking one thought
to another ,without applying any intellectual (logical) direction to these
thoughts, back to the originating cause of the problem. Once found this
then allows the emotional release and intellectual understanding of the
cause of the problem in turn this removes the effect of the problem (the
symptoms) for good. So a problem which has caused
considerable discomfort to a person for years or a lifetime can be a thing
of the past within a few short weeks (one session per week for 8-10 weeks
is an average length for Analytical therapy).
We have
experience in treating many different problems, habits, disorders, many
are listed to your right under broad headings, for more detail just click
on the links for more in depth information on how hypnotherapy can help
with your problem or somebody you know.
Panic
Attacks
(episodic paroxymal anxiety )
Commonly known as the Panic Attack. These are usually recurrent attacks
not restricted to any particular situation or set of circumstances which
obviously makes the attacks unpredictable and unavoidable , unlike many
phobias.
Best described as beginning with palpitations, chest pains, choking
sensations , dizziness a " nailed to the spot " feeling of total loss of
control. There may also follow a secondary fear of dying or going mad.
Sleep Problems
Sleeping disorders
are often considered as merely part of other nervous disorders, the
chicken and the egg question arises with sleeping disorders, so it is safe
to assume that if the predominant symptom is one of broken sleep patterns
etc. the client is suffering from a sleeping disorder and is treated as
such.
Insomnia
This usually includes poor quality sleep over a length of time .
A difficulty in falling asleep or staying asleep or indeed awakening
early.
Hypersomnia
This disorder produces over sleepiness and or sleep attacks. There is
often an inability to be able to rouse oneself from the sleepy feelings.
Obviously the conditions of this disorder take into account the amount of
sleep and physical activity which a person has been or is being subjected
to and are considered to be within acceptable normal limits.
Sleep
walking-(Somnambulism )
Well known and relatively common sleeping disorder , often children sleep
walk during the first third of a nights sleep cycle.
The sleep walking often goes on into adult life during times of extra
stress.
There is rarely any danger involved in the act of sleep walking except the
obvious physical dangers of falling over or other such accidents.
Occasionally the sleep walking can produce some concern as sleep walkers
are sometimes known to wander outside and their are often the added
dangers which are self explanatory.
Sleep
terrors
A very different form of disorder is the sleep or night terrors . These
typically wake the individuals from the first third of their nights sleep
with high pitched screams, rapid breathing excessive sweating and heart
pounding similar to panic attacks. However these attacks are of limited
duration and are less frightening to the sufferer, manly due to the lack
of recall the sufferer has of the incident, than to the people around at
the time the attacks occur.
Nightmares
Most people have suffered a nightmare at some time in their lives and
there is little need to explain the symptoms . However if the bad dreams
become repetitive and the subject matter constantly very disturbing they
can become a very real problem.
Physical Problems
Persistent
somatoform pain disorders
This disorder commonly shows itself as backache, headache, (particularly
Migraine) but can attack any part of the body. It must be stressed that
the treatment of all physical "illnesses" such as pain must first have
been diagnosed as being of no physiological or physical disorder.
The onset of a psychogenic pain disorder is usually associated with a
emotional conflict or psychological problems. The pain in these cases is
usually severe persistent and quite obviously very distressing.
Anatomic
dysfunction
This is an area where anxiety produces physical symptoms within the body.
These symptoms having been proved to be of psychogenic nature, that is to
say they are not caused by disease or physical disorder .
Peptic ulcers
Acid indigestion is a frequent complaint in many adults. The over
production of acids in the stomach which in time erodes the stomach lining
or duodenum (first part of the small intestine) this causes open and
painful sores.
Essential hypertension
High blood pressure which in 90% of cases is due to psychological causes.
Asthma
Asthma attacks occur when a narrowing of the bodily passages that allow
oxygen to enter the lungs and carbon dioxide to be exhaled. This disorder
of the respiratory process causes coughing , wheezing, and often a degree
of breathlessness that leads to gasping for air and excessive
apprehension.
Asthma is often linked with allergies which are also classic symptoms of
anxiety .
